i have been simracing since 2014 and believe it or not, never tried vr. i guess the cv1 could be the right choice for someone who doesn't know if he's gonna like vr, surely better than spending 600+ euro from the start.

I have both a Quest 2 and a CV1, the latter, I haven't used for over a year, until tonight. The biggest issue with the CV1 is the screen door effect, that said, I was amazed how quickly I forgot about it while playing Dirt Rally 2. In terms of comfort the CV1 is light years ahead of the Quest (even with a better headstrap), and the headphones are fantastic. Another bonus was how smooth Dirt Rally played and I could max out the settings without any impact on performance, no fiddling around to get optimise the experience as with the Quest 2. My CV1 is a battered and well loved thing, bought on release. I'm going to show it some love, clean it up and get a new face plate. It might even make ACC playable and then there are all the cross buy/play games out there so I can play VR multiplayer games with my son. If you find one of these cheap I highly recommend it particularly if you don't have the most up to date PC. My old GTX 970 was able to run AC in VR on my CV1. The screen door effect isn't as big a draw back as you might think and the CV1's strenghts more than make up for it.

Thanks in part to your advice, I put an offer on a used CV1 and hooked it up tonight to my laptop. Runs really well compared to my sons Quest2 so I’m happy.

I literally just picked up a used CV1 set with two sensors and controllers for £120. I got it on a whim from the pawnbrokers across the road from where I live. I'm running a 5800X, RTX 370 and 32gb ram so my system can easily handle it.

Solid video. I have one of those lying around, maybe I should dust it off and reinstall it😉

if only someone kept making that god damned cable, the cv1 its perfect for an entry level pcvr, no extra latency as the quest, great dark colors thanks to the amoled screen, reasonable resolution and ok fov and ok refreshrate, the best tracking with the sensors towers

Thanks, interesting vid. The ending begs the question, which titles would you avoid for vr?

Ive been running a CV1 for years now, its held together with tape and the headphones dont work but use own headphones. Today i got a Reverb G2 V2 for £150 because it has an overheating issue, plan was to cut holes in the case and fit a fan and enjoy the cheap upgrade, Windows Mixed Reality had different plans for me though on windows 11, constant driver issues and USB issues, i've just given up and decided i might just buy another cv1 that is in better condition than mine plus an extra sensor and maybe get some controllers as never had any! Anyone want a Reverb g2 v2 with over heating issues???

With that package with only one proximity sensor do I have enough for PC racing simulation? Thanks buddy

Is there a headset that is on par or above the valve index resolution but with oled panels and 90hz and above? I like night races but the LCD panels are terrible in my index for that

But without the tracking controller.. how do you setup oculus? As it asks you to map the guardian (just asking)

i really wouldn’t recommend this for people on a budget

The CV1 has held up for sim racing purposes, it's miles better than a computer monitor, you don't need to see that far ahead or see any details in the distance so it's still perfect. In other applications however, like FPS games and especially flight sims the resolution is too low. I've shot down enough friendly fighter planes to know that by now.

Sim racing usually takes up a lot of GPU I believe, but in Population ONE and other lighter games, i supersample in the debug tool to 1.7 and looks a little bit better than the Q2 with link at max res IMO.

My Quest2 is being fixed. I exercise everyday with the quest, and I can't take two weeks off. So, I saw a CV1 locally for a $100. I picked it up to get through while my quest is being repaired or replaced.
I am impressed. Beat Saber looks great! It is lighter, and the headphones are great too. But The controllers are different and I often hit buttons by accident.
This will make a great spare. Also I can play with a friend.

I have the Rift S and it's a shame they've removed the manual IPD lens adjuster.
