558 v 58 5 Acme Whistle

We check out the new whistle on the block for rugby league referees, the 558 Acme Thunderer. Tell us what you think of the sound. Will it take over the more traditional 58.5?

558 is the whistle I use, you have to rotate the 558 but pushing the mouth peace up, inside of using the same technique as the 58.5

I just started using the 558 and it’s definitely a lot easier to get a better tone but you do need to blow the crap out of it and just find what works for you

Plastic is definately alot easier to use but does sound more like a sea gull or magpie tone. Matt Cecchin has the best whistle tone by far Ziggy Adamski whistle tone isnt to bad.

I apprechiate that the birds in the background chirp the same pitch as the 2nd whistle

I bought the 59•5 as the 58s were out of stock and even with the sqeakier sound then these 2 can make a better sound with it than the 558

Stop using mics when blowing the whistle, just use your phone with no mic it makes the sound different
