This video depicts the proposed White Water Rafting facility in George's Dock. Dublin City Council through it's Smart Docklands initiative has partnered with D3D to create a 3D model of Dublin Docklands which is used to show a life-like visual of the new facility.

For more details on 3D model:

Overview of the White Water project:
The project proposes a new city centre urban activity located in Dublin’s Docklands and set within the historic environs of George’s Dock. The White Water Rafting Centre (WWRC) will provide facilities for a wide range of people who wish to participate in water sports and leisure activities in a city centre location. It will serve members of the public who wish to kayak or canoe or go river rafting and will serve white water course customers, including tourist visitors, club canoeists, elite athletes and emergency services. The project will also provide an ‘anchor’ facility for the ongoing enhancement of all water sports activity and leisure use along the River Liffey.

I think it's quite imaginative and could be great fun both to use and spectate. I've been to white water centers elsewhere but never right in the middle of a city. I'd like to see how the logistics will work. How easy will it be for kayakers to park their cars close by - will the parking allow for the extra height of kayaks on a roof rack and so forth? Will there be a decent drop over the course to drive the white water and will canoeing experts be consulted on the nature of the rapids? Will the access fee (if any) be within reach of everybody? And finally as a nation how to we reform public liability so we can all have fun without a few people taking advantage of minor mishaps to earn a few quid.

should be building an indoor wave pool & beach. This would actually bring in loads of paying locals and tourists alike. white-water rafting is very niche in terms of participants.

Looking forward to this becoming a stagnant stinking algae pond surrounded by grafitti, drug paraphenalia and human excrement. About two years after it opens and goes bust.

Absolute vanity project. A joke and a disgrace from out of touch/corrupt officials.
