In this tutorial, let us learn What is Reflection in Primavera P6 and How to Use it

This Reflection is also called a What if copy of a project.
Unlike normal copy, reflection is a copy with direct link to the source project, which means if we make changes in the reflection, you will have an option to merge these changes.

Now, let us see how to do this.

Let’s consider a sample project which you wish to create a reflection, select the project and right click to select create reflection.

If the project is having a baseline, then you will get a dialog box to select which baseline to be copied.

Select and then click OK

Now, you can see a reflection copy created in the same EPS here, with a tag called reflection in the project name.
You can also check the project status, where it will be mentioned a What-if, seeing this you can be confirmed that it’s a reflection copy.

Now, let us open the reflection copy and make some changes which you want to try and see the impact on the overall schedule.

Once you are done with the changes, you can merge the changes to the source project.

Go to the projects window, right click on the reflection copy project and select Merge Reflection into Source Project.

You will get a dialog box with a preview of all the changes that you have done.

You can select those changes that you want to merge with the project.
Also you can select the options to make baselines and backups of your schedules with these options and finally click on this merge changes button.

Friends, whenever you want to try a what-if scenario in the schedule, you can try this feature.
