Regardless if eviction doesn't get owners repaid, it's important so owners can stop losing money. Anyway, if you OWN the property, you should be able to evict period if the tenant doesn't pay. No further reason needed.

So you haven’t paid rent for years and don’t have any extra money saved up for rent? Maybe they can stay at the City Council members house. Until……they save up enough money for rent.

Asinine laws...what about landlords that still has to pay for mortgages, HOA dues, property taxes and maintenance..landlords can also become homeless.

Actually it does get them their money back. The people who won't pay are gone and another who wants to pay is installed. The idea that these people are going to pay back 3 years back rent is ridiculous. They will continue to not pay as long as the city allows it, even if the bank forecloses.

tenants not paying for rent was a BIG BUSINESS. They traveled, they purchased NEW cars, beautiful furniture and other items that were just in their dreams. THEY ABUSED THE LANDLORDS AND THE CITY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT LANDLORDS.

This is so sad. All of this reminds me my country Venezuela where people could stay for years in rental property without paying rent. My parents were landlords and couldn't get them out. I can't believe this is happening here in the US

I bet you if the council members owned rental homes, the eviction moratorium would have ended long ago.

The very best eviction protection would be paying your rent. If the city doesn't like that then let them foot the bill instead of forcing it on landlords. Oops. I forgot, city's have no income other than what they receive from taxpayers such as these very same landlords.

Illegal rental businesses must be shut down and illegal rental proceeds must be restituted to payers.

Landlords got plenty of rent relief money to cover the outrageous rents they charge… they got a lot more than what it actually costs to pay their mortgages and manage their properties. Boo hoo.

land lords should collect from the city for un paid rent

“Landlords” must pay their shares of housing like everyone else does.

It doesn't give them money back, but the landlords can start building and earning money.
