Happy Solstice! A Hybrid Yin Yoga Sequence | Give Thanks & Release
Показать описание
Happy Solstice! Here is a hybrid yin yoga sequence. Showing gratitude for the fall and welcoming in the winter solstice.
Winter is a very dark, still and introspective time of year, and just like the seasons change so do we, so, if you are feeling more reflective and introverted this time of year, that's ok! We are at our peak Yin energy, meaning we are our most reflective and introverted selves. #wintersolstice #yogaritual #yinyoga
In TCM, winter is associated with the kidney and bladder meridians. If you are "balanced" in these areas you will feel nourished vs feeling stiff and tired, which may be accompanied by achy bones and joints. For this practice, we focus on these meridian lines to open up any obstructions and allow energy to flow. I will also be incorporating some postures targeting the lung and intestine meridians which are the governing meridians in TCM for fall. Thus, making this a hybrid (fall/winter) yin yoga sequence.
For todays sequence I am wearing a comfy sweater and sipping on some bone broth (the brand is called Broya).
Feel free to skip to 1:50 to start the practice
Grab everything you need to get cozy and meet me on the mat!
YOU WILL NEED: 1 BLOCK (warm beverage and sweater are optional)
Grab your coffee, tea or coco water and meet me on the mat!
Be sure to let me know how it went for you in the comments!

What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing.
When practicing always remember
1. Meet the pose at YOUR edge (gradually)
2. Find stillness and focus on your breath
3. Resolve to be still
