Description: JD van Deventer creates unique knives of the highest degree of craftsmanship. He took up knife making in 2005 and became a member of the Knifemaker’s Guild of Southern Africa by 2007. He works in a one man shop and even builds most of his machines himself! He is clearly a maker to keep an eye on.
This flipper is an extremely practical EDC -- designed for daily carry and daily use. Weighing in at just 2.6 oz, it is easy to keep close at hand and not even notice it is in your pocket. The flipper mechanism is easy to operate. The blade is perfectly centered with smooth action and easily flicks out.
The blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The scales are formed from silver strike carbon fiber. This variation of lightning strike carbon fiber has silver toned wire moving through the woven carbon strands. Zirconium bolsters meet perfectly to the handle scales. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is highly resistant to corrosion and scuffing. The thin-profiled handle is compact enough to keep in the pocket and never notice it until it is needed. The blackened, deep carry titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
