wow, it is extremely useful, thanks for sharing. I found this is very suitable for UV updating when the skinning is already done. for mesh update, the modeler must be very careful to keep all vertex and topology the same as the old version, otherwise, the skin weight will be lost.

I've tried to do connect shapes into the ShapeOrig, but when I did the mesh got altered. Have you ever heard of something like that happening and how to fix it?
