I was 50/50 on watching this, but you talked me into it with the Mandy shoutout and the style over substance critique. But I need an impactful ending most of the time, so we'll see.

I went through cycles of liking and not liking this film. It suffers from trying to do something so cleverly that the thing itself gets lost along the way. The painting they are sitting in front of at the beginning is very important. It gives away the entire movie. Bruce killed his parents, but they just barely hint at it once during the drive. You know he killed them if you recognize the painting or you know Greek mythology, which I do. Bruce is Orestes, famous for killing his mother. As a result of that, the Furies hunted/haunted him. There are a lot of Greek "morality plays" that deal with killing parents, siblings, etc. It was really frowned upon and I believe Apollo was the God in charge of punishing it. Anyway, this film is a weird retelling of the story of Orestes. But it tried way too hard to be artistic and profound and smarter than its audience. I'll give it 3 stars, but not an emphatic 3 stars.

Don't feel bad about being honest about the quality of a movie. If I would have watched your review first maybe I would have spared myself the hour and a half...
