Demand is rising for gig workers to handle chores like tidying up in China, where a growing number of people in the world’s most populous country turn to home organising companies. Nearly 19,000 companies in China now offer such services, with about 11,000 registered as recently as 2019, reflecting a boom in a specialised service sector some analysts call the “lazy economy”.

As long as people are well paid, its also called employment.

We really need to throw away the idea of "lazy" in commerce and employment. We always hire people to do things we, for whatever reason, can't/won't do ourselves, and we usually do it with hard-earned money. It always starts in labor and ends in labor.

I seen Japanese and Korean companies that does this.. And they have videos here on YouTube. Professional housekeepers and organisers and even teaches the owner on how to maintain and categorise items. It's far from lazy. It's actually creating more job opportunities and also a better lifestyle.

A lot of those are hired by children for their elderly parents who live in the city alone, so they don't have to do the hard work.
My dad did this for my grandparents when he can't be with them

cleaning service have long existed I think, but it was predominantly long term house keeper or live in nanny, basically one person doing long time cleaning, and the service emerging now is like one time job to clean once in a while, and it's getting more professional.

well, if the people the lazy economy serves are working up to 16-18hours a day...

This is actually a brand new profession called space organizer, whose purpose is not to organize a messy home, but to teach you how to use your home wisely and to use scientific classification methods to keep your home very well organized.

This is just another version of a maid or personal assistant. Calling the people lazy is a bit of a stretch. Some people hate organizing and others love to organize and clean with a passion. Could be a great career for people with OCD or autism.

Nothing like a clean and tidy house to come home to

‘Lazy’ wow. I think it’s the exact opposite. Both parents of a household usually have to work long hours, full-time and sometimes on public holidays to support the costs of living. I can understand why they then don’t have the time to put their socks away and organise their cupboards.

I find cleaning and organizing enjoyable. When I begin to get stressed or anxious, deep cleaning gives me a sense of calm and satisfaction. I'm going to clean my mother in law's house this weekend, she doesn't like to clean, but she's happy I do.

I totally get it. When we are so busy taking care of things. Other things fall through the cracks. I love that they can come home to a nice organized home. And it gives people jobs.

really hope they bring this kind of service to the US as well. For people like me who moves a lot, the most frustrating and time consuming thing is to pack and unpack everything.
