Zane Truesdale and his first usage of Power Bond as seen in Episode 8 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Gx. I find this duel pretty important as it sets a bar for Jaden and shows his progression throughout the series. The protagonist isn't invincible, as their first duel ends with Jaden losing. The second time around, the result is a draw. Just a neat thing to notice when going through the series. Zane activates power bond and F.S.U.

I was expecting a meme or shitpost but this is just genuinely one of the coolest scenes in GX, really establishing Zane/Kaiser as a paragon of a duelist and a worthy obstacle for Jaden to overcome.

The thing is Zane played the card WRONG. Zane summoned Cyber end dragon which will have 8000 attack points and attack Jaden's 3000 defence monster and deal him 5000 piercing damage BUT He could have just summoned CYBER TWIN DRAGON BACK which will not only give him a 5600 atk monster that can attack twice and thus He can destroy the monster with its first attack and then Deal 5600 damage to Jaden instead of 5000. The damage he will recieve at the end of the turn would be 2800 instead of 4000 (wouldn't matter since he had less life point than either of that but still)

In this episode of Yu-Gi-Oh GX Jaden was a bit of fickle at some point he is angry with Zane for not being supportive figure, but after that duel he's hype even though he lost

Best part is the fact he had defusion meant he didn’t need power bond, he could’ve won earlier

as someone who's played a lot of Yugioh let me explain exactly the lesson zane was trying to get out with an example and it has nothing to do with deck building.

Zane means to fully understand the cards and the situation your in to fully use your cards properly for instance remembering what cards are added to the hand and what effects they have what loopholes are present on the board to take advantage of to get out of a bad situation.

there are many YuGiOh players that don't play the game with this mindset and instead play the game mindlessly.

for instance, I had dark law on the field which has the effect to banish all cards to the graveyard someone using the wonder wand draw engine tried using the effect despite it not working (to the graveyard effects don't work if banished instead) and gased himself out and surrendered thing is though if he had two wonder wands so if he had just equipped both to his monster it would have had higher attack then dark law and could play normally after instead he made mindless combos and gave up like a coward.

that's the difference between knowing how to use a card and knowing how to play it.
