Boss Katana MK2 - What is the Power Amp in and why use it??

Katana MK2 comes with a power amp in and Boss are REALLY pushing this as a major reason to own the new katana. What is it? and why use it?

Definitely heard the difference. For this pedal w/ these settings, I liked the fx loop return, which sounded fuller & harmonically richer. But, depending on what signal you're sending in, you might want the noticeably cleaner sound of power amp in.

I love plugging my iPhone into the power amp in. I use bias fx 2 as my amp sim; just make sure to turn off the cabinet simulation in the app so the amp doesn’t sound muddy.

I thought the point of the dedicated "Power Amp Input" is because of the fact that the FX Send and Return (FX Loop) is assignable to be either post reverb, or post amp/stack. See the Boss Tone Studio Mk2 user manual. Obviously, depending on where you have the FX Loop assigned, this would make a difference in how the FX Return behaves. Thus, the reason for the inclusion of the dedicated Power Amp input.

Ok, I´m gonna use the fx loop return for my AX8. My man cave is already to full for another amp or FRFR box, but I´m curious of the stereo capabilities - I hope for a good ping pong delay effect!

Hmmmm so which one sounded better to your ears? Also I saw somewhere that the tone studio has some extra controls for the power amp in (HPF, LPF, etc.)...With that in mind, for us MK1 owners can we just use an eq effect in the effects block to have the same effect as a power amp in?

Great video, I have a mk2 50 and would like to use my Power Amp in with the Hx Effects, is this possible? I've tried but no luck as I've probably gone wrong with the connections somehow.

Thanks for the videos. Can you use the line out of the original Katana Artists (Not MK2) into the power amp in of a Katana MK2? I am looking to get both amps going at the same time without using an ABY box. TIA for any help!

Hello! I would like to know if I can use the mooer ge250 in the amp in or would it be better to connect it to the auxiliary input? will it be possible to use amp and cabinet emulation in amp in? Thanks!

I use my Katana MKII 100w with dirt pedals plugged into the input, and modulation pedals in the FX loop. I don’t really use the effects in the Katana itself.

If I wanted to use a preamp pedal, would I put it in my chain with my dirt pedals, and plug those into the Power In rather than the input jack? And then would I still be able to use the send/return for my modulation pedals?

So, I've got a boss me-25. If I get the katana 50 mk2 where no send and return is on the back side of the amp, I can use all the fx including looper (that's what I'm going for), I can play through the cabinet of the katana bypassing all the amp/fx features? 🤔
