Inside the Chieftain's Hatch: IS-3M, Part 1

The IS-3, when it first appeared on the scene, was a shock to the West and created a "Tank Panic". Lean, mean... and with a number of flaws not immediately evident, it was a tank which had a psychological and cultural effect far in excess of its numbers built. This vehicle is located in Bastogne Barracks, Belgium.

This is the first batch where I have invested in bringing along a cameraman/editor, goes by FixItInPost, and as you can imagine, he doesn't work for free. Any financial support you can throw in below would be greatly appreciated. This was a test case to see if it's economically viable.

I always love a tank with an emotional support log.

I remember WoT coming out of closed beta, and the first Chieftain's hatch videos dropping. It was like church for our tiny community back then. Really cool to see you still at it over a decade later. Brings back memories. Thank you Chieftain. Much love and respect from an OG to an OG.

Dam you where is the track tensioner, where’s the track tensioner. 😂😂😂

Reason for bump stops for some wheels and not for others seems pretty obvious. If you look above the wheels that have bump stops, there is the return roller. Ones without stops, there is no roller. It is to stop the road wheel from damaging the return roller

Gonna have to give this video a 99 out of 100 only because I didn't see any mention of track tension.

I think the cameraman and editor were worth it. Definitely a more polished final product.

The IS3 certainly has one of the most distinctive silhouettes of the armored fighting vehicle world. I can easily imagine how shocking it was to the allied observers when it was first unveiled.

I would not want to come across one in a dark alleyway.

Audio quality in this is top notch - which is a nice bonus to an already great Chieftain vid!

"always remember where you are in relation to your opposition" Who needs Sun Tzu when we have The Chieftain?

Still nuts to me the internet can deliver perfect stuff for me, like a dude just showing off historic tanks.

Back in prehistoric time in war thunder, IS3 was an absolute nightmare to go against. Side armor was unforgiving for not aiming at a flat wall. No pen was guaranteed. Had to sweat some balls with my imaginary KT 105 to put is3 to sleep 😂

IS-3M, Thank you! the IS-3 was the first tank I grinded towards, and it did not disappoint! especially in clan battles... but this was 2013/2014. things were VERY different.

We definitely need a "oh bugger the tank is on fire" for this beast

Great to see your production changes bear fruit, Mr. Moran! It leaves you with more capacity to be detailed, off the cuff(ish) and funny! Loved it! 👍👍👍
