Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh during which time ancient Egypt had significant prosperity and growth. Her sarcophagus was found in 1903 by Howard Carter and her mummy was identified in 2007 by Zahi Hawass by matching a tooth known to be Hatshepsut’s with an empty socket in the mummy’s jaw. Her mummy revealed that she suffered from obesity and diabetes, and she had metastatic cancer in her pelvic bones. Hatshepsut was bald in front and had decayed teeth. Researchers found a highly carcinogenic substance in a flask of lotion that belonged to Hatshepsut. This bottle of cream belonging to Hatshepsut was found in her tomb and contained a carcinogenic moisturizer. Her mummy revealed she was suffering from eczema on her neck and face. The lotion she was supposedly using for years, contained benzopyrene which is banned from today's cosmetics. Other experts are not convinced that Hatshepsut poisoned herself to death while trying to soothe her itchy skin. Some experts stated that resins used in the mummification process could have been responsible for the eruptions found on the skin of Hatshepsut.

Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple structure was way ahead of its time. We can see the roots of modern architecture here. Multi-story, open airy column facade with graceful civic stairways braced by versatile graceful ramps....multi level expansive patios are all so modern and classically civic. The column arrays give the same look as the glass window walls on a modern highrise. Hatshepsut's architecture was ahead of its time.

She was a total mess. It's ironic that she had the wealth to have the best food and doctors but she also had the wealth to buy poisonous cosmetics and skin "care"

Her skin lesions did not erupt posthumously! The Egyptians could have wrapped her in whatever- her skin was dead, ie non-reactive.

Most scholars believe that Egyptians in antiquity looked pretty much as they look today, with a gradation of darker shades toward the Sudan". Ancient Egypt was racially homogeneous; instead, skin color varied between the peoples of Lower Egypt,  Upper Egypt, and Nubia, who in various eras rose to power in Ancient Egypt.

I love the way they made her mummy image smile, it makes it look prettier. At 1st I thought I was seeing things when I noticed the smile n than it was gone again.

They sure wore a lot of afrocentric hairstyles. Cornrows and beads. Beautiful
