Explorer Classroom in the Field | Jonathan Kolby and Ben Mirin
Показать описание
Join us live from Cusuco National Park in Honduras with National Geographic Explorers Jonathan Kolby and Ben Mirin. They are teaming up on a project in the field to record the calls of the endangered frog species within the park. We'll try to connect with them from a stream in the rainforest and with any luck will meet some of these rare species.
Jonathan earned his PhD from James Cook University, specializing in the global spread of amphibian pathogens. He began working to create the Honduras Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Centre (HARCC) in 2008 after discovering chytrid fungus in Cusuco National Park during his project as a National Geographic Young Explorer. He's spent over 10 years working in Cusuco, studying these amazing animals and helping to develop a way to save them from extinction. Jonathan is also an avid photographer and is selling photos to support HARCC.
Ben Mirin is a sound artist, educator, National Geographic Explorer, television host and keynote speaker. He leads expeditions around the world recording animal sounds to advance scientific research, and samples their voices to create music and art that inspires and educates future conservationists. Ben is the creator and host of the digital and television series WILD BEATS on National Geographic Kids and Nat Geo Wild, and a Fellow at The Safina Center and The Explorers Club.
