I bought Sanctum years ago and was so excited to play it after watching someone on YouTube do so - then I installed it and my computer couldn't run it. I didn't upgrade my computer for a while, so Sanctum collected proverbial dust, but it always sat in the back of my mind.

I've only played Sanctum 2 and it was interesting seeing the differences between the two games. One thing that always stood out to me is how much extra detail they included in the maps. Exploring them for easter eggs was always one of my favorite parts of unlocking a new map.

The most impressive thing about this game is the sound design. I've played it over a decade ago at this point, and not for very long, and yet I still strongly remember the sounds, the AI lines... even more than the music. It immediately struck me with a very strong sense of nostalgia for that time.

Oh man, Sanctum. I haven't played this in YEARS. I only have a few hours in the first game, but a couple hundred in the second game. I love how well this game still holds up.

I'm glad Coffee Stain went on to see great success. I think this game looked absolutely beautiful. Shame about the cell-shaded style of the sequel.

Great game. The thing about it is that the difficulty levels and multiplayer give it a ton more 'content'; mazing gets tremendously important as you get further into the difficulty levels. As I remember, stronger towers earlier thinning out the pack are more effective; more old-school tower defense design involved using a smaller number of more powerful towers at choke points. In that first level, specifically, as I remember you can get the mobs to run a VERY long path if you look closely at how the map is put together.

i remember this game it was so unbalanced when i played when ever those tall thing showed up i simply could not kill them with the towers i had and sniper rifle even to there " head" just did jack
