Engine performance is mostly depends upon valve timing especially intake valve closing point. Duke perform very bad at lower rpm becoz intake valve closes much later in BDC which leads to unomptimum combustion and so does lesser torque in bottom end. So my advice is either change the valve timing or try to retro fit Yamaha's VVA tech to get best of both worlds, and don't forget to lower down compression ratio, it might reduce peak power but will become more smoother, run cooler and give very strong acceleration in low-mid range.

if you're facing engine heating with the bike then switch to engine ice coolant, the engine will become cold as ice and the fan won't kick in much.
