In danger of being called a fossil, I remember when there were only a handful of types and they actually made sense. There was a clear delineation between the "outer shell" (for example, the "tsun"), the "core personality" (the "dere") and the *transition* from one to the other.

Nowadays the majority of these X-Dere types refer to absolutely random personality traits, or even physical features, that have *nothing* to do with the original concept of a character experiencing character development and opening up to the target of their affection.

A Kuudere thaws out and becomes warm towards her love interest. A Nyandere...what, stops being catlike, to get closer to the love interest? This makes no sense. What (over) half these X-Deres are, are just, as I said earlier, personality traits or physical features.
A Nyandere is just a catgirl. An Oujodere (rofl) is literally just the Oujo character type (same for Ouji).
There's no need to slap -dere onto everything in existence.

Rant over. Mind you this isn't against the video creator, who's presumably just trying to sort through this mess, but oh boy what a mess it is.

I would argue Tagia isn’t a tsundere because although she is violent she is quite open about her romantic feelings especially at the start and she only denies her feelings for ryuji because she wants her best friend to be happy but she does have some tsundere personality. I loved this video btw ❤

Hitagi Senjougahara is such a complex character, that she can be seen as a tsundere, a yandere and a hiyakasudere at the same time.

it feels like they are many more dere types we have yet to discover

If you ever do a part 2, you should look into the "yangire" archetype. While it doesn't have "dere" in the name, it's still an interesting archetype to explore. The easiest examples I can give you would be Rena Ryuugu from Higurashi and Alois Trancy from Black Butler.

This video made me realize I can fit numerous Batman villains into these archetypes. Thanks!

3:50 I’m Japanese, and I believe the ‘ドロドロ’ portrays the sensual feeling of being in a mud pit or swamp: It connotes the idea that if you encounter or interact with a Dorodere, you’re going to get yourself stuck in a mud pit that you can’t get out of. A clear comparison to this idea is a ‘rabbit hole’ in English.

Okay, Power is an Onidere, but it's not just that she has a devil complex. She IS the devil

9:46 Most of this video I just watched calmly out of interest, but, for some reason, the delivery of that line got me laughing for like a minute straight

I love how half of them with -dere not only don't delineate character development, but don't even have anything to do with love or romance anymore. Dere, colloquially, just refers to the prefix being a description of a person, not a part of the description itself. It's like a particle now,

for the MEgadere, I feel like it could be the 'glasses' origin, like 'rose tinted glasses'. Feels most fitting, obsessed and in love but unable to see that the one they love may not be the same way or are annoyed by them

THERE ARE 44 TYPES OF DERE'S?!?!?!

There’s another Yandere with a completely different meaning. It’s the combination of ヤンキー (yankee, which kind of means delinquent) and デレデレ, and it’s one I find really funny
Best example I can think of is the Manga “Yandere Kanoujo” where the girlfriend is the leader of a highschool gang, but basically melts whenever anything even semi-happens with her boyfriend and it’s super funny
