I went to Tokyo in 2018 and this route was high on my list. I did it early on a sunday morning (anti-clockwise of course) and it was such a dramatic change from the narrow busy streets, loved it, this vid and series brings back great memories, looking forward to going again some day

Just did that run this morning. Tough going in this heat but such a great run. If others are running it for the first time just note that you have to run anti clockwise. If you’re looking to do short intervals then next door at Hibiya Park is great too as it’s flat.

Imperial Palace is an amazing place to run. I was there in July and it was absolutely cooking.

i saw haruki murakami on this route once. out of the larger cities in japan i prefer running in kyoto, there is a nice path along kamogawa and lots of beautiful trails a few jr stops out.

Heading there in April staying near Ginza. Hope i can escape from the family for a bit and squeeze in a quick 5km run in the Imperial Palace ground!

Used to contract for a company in Tokyo and they had a company run club. So I ran this loop A LOT. Highly recommended doing it after work for the full experience. It gets really busy.. what is cool is you get people absolutely flying, people barely shuffling and everything in between. It is also not completely flat and has a really nice gentle hill, with a long perfect gradient descent. Last but not least there are tons of public baths near many stations around the loop. Complete with locker, bath(be ready to sit literally shoulder to shoulder with other runners). Really fun. But in summer it is absolutely horrible, however that is anywhere in Tokyo lol

For another fun place to run. Go to Odaiba. Lots of nice streets and at night make sure to run across the Rainbow bridge, great view of the city. I think there are couple places with lockers and showers there as well.

Takes me back to the early 2010s. Lived nearby in Kagurazaka and ran laps of the palace a few times a week. Miss it.

Every time I travel to Japan and I’m in Tokyo, I love running around the imperial palace (Kōkyo).

It’s funny because as a non-Asian American, people stare at me all the time when I run there or anywhere in Japan in general.

What was the place where you can borrow alphaflys? I'm doing my second trip to Japan in November and definitely want to run this route (last time i went it was 2023 Sakura season ... couldn't walk let alone run anywhere without bumping into someone in Tokyo. )
