Some guy on reddit was talking about how his company had a corporate retreat on an Alabama plantation house. Complete with a "period appropriate" costume ball. And he, being the only black person in the company... decided to go in a period appropriate costume. As you can imagine, HR gave him a sizable raise.

Sadly I live in Greenville, SC and they don’t like for black people to get involved in the reenactment events because they have no idea how to handle the situation

The same people who claim history is being censored or destroyed are the one uncomfortable with this.

If he put some money into this and did it all the time, it's be awesome.
Imagine he hired a couple guys to portray bounty hunters on horseback chasing runaway slaves. Let them really lay into the racial slurs and violence as well.
I'd love to see all those middle aged white people freaking out over that.

Holy shit if I was black I would do this at every reenactment ever. It's such a good bit

Only in the South do people worship the Confederacy. All over you still have parks, monuments and reenactments dedicated to the Confederacy and none of them mention slavery. Was just in Tennessee and went to city called Knoxville. Had this great little park talking bout the heroics of its soldiers defending a location. After reading a very long mural, turns out it was bout a platoon of confederates holding a location against some union soldiers. This monument never once denounced slavery or critiqued the cause of the war. Instead it embellished the bravery of the southern men, and played on their heroics against the union. Now imagine if Germany had parks that did the same thing with the Nazi party. Parks dedicated to the heroic hold of Normandy. How a certain regiment defended a crucial choke point allowing the Nazis retreat.... yea that's the type of energy I felt being in that Tennessee park. And parks like that are all over the south. Need to take a lesson from Germany and take down all Confederacy related works like they took down all Nazi related propaganda. I'm all for history. But when the history you're portraying is at its core, evil and barbaric... especially the faction that wanted to retain that evil. Keep them in history books not as monuments given rose tinted glasses for the public to view.
