To answer your question about learning languages by studying grammar rules, or looking at many examples, and which is best... ... well, I have to say, neither! Both are essential for learning a language to proficiency, and are how we learn our mother tongue. This is why children raised by educated professionals will always have a better command of their native language, than those who are raised by parents who have no interest in how their language functions, or if how they use it is correct, as long as they can communicate, all is well and good. Children learn, first by hearing language modeled; words and phrases repeated hundreds of times a day, before they ever even learn to speak, let alone read.
You're a great teacher, Toby, and that's in part because you're a human being. Students always perform better when they have a teacher who is educated, funny and someone who can form a relationship with their learners, and vice versa of course! I'm eternally grateful for your dedicated work, videos and humour.

I finished a c1 course back in 2017 now I fail to even solve some b2 key words transformation. I think that it is because I learned like a native most of the times that I solve an exercise correctly I can't explain why I solved it that way.

Hey Tobby, would you also use chat gpt for assessing the writing part of the exam? Asking, because I have been using it for assessing whether proposals or reviews etc. and it seems that it gives good ideas on how to make the text readable. However, I think it sucks when you write informal letters using slang or rather colloqual expressions as it corrects those words stating that they are incorrect (which is nonsense, right?) I also tried to copy the informal letter from C1 teacher´s handbook, I think is was graded like 4-5 but after checking the letter it said it was barelly at the B2 level ... like rlly ?
