New car for Detroiter James Robertson whose difficult daily commute made international headlines.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Detroit man who made international news over his difficult daily commute to work won't have to walk anymore.

James Robertson has been given a new car by Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights. Robertson picked up the car, a red fully loaded 2015 Ford Taurus, on Friday.

When he picked up the car, Robertson said, "I don't like it, I love it!"

The story of how the 56-year-old Robertson walks 21 miles everyday to get to and from work was first reported by the Detroit Free Press . Since then it has appeared on both national and international news outlets.

It has also led to more than $310,000 in donations to a GoFundMe site for Robertson that was set up by a Wayne State University student.
