Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog have announced they are no longer in a relationship.

In a statement published online they say they will continue to work together on The Muppets.

They released the same statements on their Twitter accounts explaining they had been "squabbling".

Larry King Live — Kermit and Piggy appear together in 1993; Larry asks them when they're going to get married. Kermit says that they won't, but Piggy reveals that they secretly live together and that her married name is Mrs. the Frog.

Miss Piggy is a Muppet character known for her breakout role in the sketch comedy television series The Muppet Show. She is notable for her temperamental diva superstar personality, tendency to use French phrases in her speech, and practice of karate. The character is also known for her on-again/off-again relationship with Kermit the Frog which never ends permanently. Frank Oz performed the character from 1976 to 2002 and was succeeded by Eric Jacobson in 2001.

Since her debut in 1976, Miss Piggy has been a celebrity fixture in international pop culture, with a distinguished career in film, television, fashion, recording, and publishing. She has been widely identified as a feminist icon. In 1996, TV Guide ranked her number 23 on its 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time list.

Kermit the Frog is a Muppet character created and originally performed by Jim Henson. Introduced in 1955, Kermit is the pragmatic everyman protagonist of numerous Muppet productions, most notably as the showrunner and host of the sketch comedy television series The Muppet Show and a featured role on Sesame Street, as well as in other television series, feature films, specials, and public service announcements through the years. He served as a mascot of The Jim Henson Company and appeared in various Henson projects until 2004.

Kermit performed the hit singles "Bein' Green" in 1970 for Sesame Street and "Rainbow Connection" in 1979 for The Muppet Movie, the first feature-length film featuring the Muppets. Kermit's original performance of "Rainbow Connection" reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2021
