I was sure in the end you would say "ever heard of... Players?"

I've personally found it really hard to run a pre-written module, so I always end up just writing my own stuff which turns out to be easier for me and a lot more fun for everyone at the table.

"No plan survives first contact with the enemy." Or, in D&D terms
"No game session survives first contact with the players."

When he said “lairs and legends… what are these exactly”
I immediately called it “my salvation”

One of these days one of my players is going to read the Lightbringer series and realize how much of a hack I actually am.

Honestly, if you've managed to play through every official module with the same group then you've clearly bested the evil lord Skeduel-in Con'flix and wield great TTRPG power

Ah the party’s number one enemy more terrifying and less often beaten that that of a tarrasque responsible for more TPKs than all other enemies combined scheduling conflicts

There is a saying that is often not spoken: Geniuses steal.

Homebrew campaigns are just more fun.
I made one where the players investigate a town that operates on the golden rule. It took them very little time to realize the golden rule was "You break it you buy it" complete with items designed to break, children hopping in front of carts, an open tavern table only new people are dumb enough to sit at and more!

That's actually why my last group broke up. We used to play every single Monday evening. Sometimes Friday evenings. At the end of every session we discussed if the immediate following Friday was still open for everyone. If one player was unable to make it we still played but we said that one character just fucked off somewhere. There were internal conflicts going on with the group as well. I just hope they're all doing well.

The forever DM wakes up from a dream. His best one yet.

My group runs off of a “F*ck it, we ball, ” mentality. Typically even the dungeon master (whoever is doing it that time) doesn’t the plot until the third or fourth session. Works for us but might be troublesome for people who struggle with improv.

Being a DM is like a curse that could only be ended if passed on to a willing victim or if the gods of scheduling conflicts decide to release from the curse itself.

A good source for material would be the Grimm's fairytales. The characters are written for you. You have a scenario. You just need to throw in an add-on big bad, stats to characters, traps, and items. If you mix a few sources, it would make it a little easier.

A fun one I did was a mix between Red Riding Hood and Aliens. Set up in a space liner, so the area was bigger, you had the wolf as the perceived enemy, but he was just trying to fight off the alien organisms and their offspring, but that all made it look like he was just offing the crew and passengers. And, since he couldn't sense what type of powers the PCs had, he would attack them, even if he didn't sense the aliens' scent on them.

It was fun, a good way to kill time waiting for one missing player to return. And it was large enough so we could do it for a while. We could also destroy parts of the ship to speed it up if need be.

My butt squeezed when I heard scheduling. Dear lord that is truly the campaign killer of the century
