This song has always resonated deep with me. It reminds me of a specific moment in my life, specifically the first verse. In middle school I had extreme social anxiety. I had no friends at all. People ignored me and it seemed like no one wanted to be my friend no matter how hard I tried. I felt invisible. It was the most depressing time in my life. Then when I got to high school I made a lot of new friends who cared about me. “welcome to the planet, welcome to existence.” “Everybody’s watching you now, everybody waits for you now” I always associated that first verse with the shock of transitioning from where nobody cared about me to where people actually watched me, waited for me, cared about me. Really hits so close to home, it was truly a representation of my life at that time.
