1824…that would be perfect to have a tie again exactly 2 centuries later 😂

Note: because the entire House is also up for re-election it will not be the current one, but the newly elected one making this decision. (And 1/3 of the Senate is also up for re-election.)

All 5 times the candidate who won The Popular Vote but lost The Electoral College were Democrats; Jackson lost to Adams Jr. in 1824, Tilden lost to Hayes in 1876, Cleveland lost to Harrison in 1888, Gore lost to Bush Jr. in 2000, & Clinton lost to Trump in 2016.

In my opinion, The political, technological, economic, and informational (truthful or not) pace is accelerating so rapidly that your feeling is entirely understandable and grounded in real factors. That's my opinion ❤.

Imagine: the Republican House picks Trump to be president and the Democratic Senate picks Kamala to be VP. That would make for an odd couple. Like sitcom kinda material, only much more terrifying.

Yes, but in this case, the votes are not one per congressman, but per State, and since there're 50 States, the House can also end with a tie.

Tie breaking should be done with who wins the popular vote.

Technically the House of Representatives also elected Hayes in 1876 but it was by a smaller committee instead of the entire house
