Nice would love to see you upload videos more often like you used to a couple years ago.

If you can find some sections of any old oversized bandsaw blades the steel is good enough quality to hold an edge well. The tricky part is to properly grind the initial bevels and then to curve them well enough then sharpen the edges and also temper the blades properly. If you can heat till the blade is non magnetic then quench in oil then heat the blades in a toaster oven for a few hours a couple of times you should have a good blade for carving. Just don't forget to cool often when grinding the final edges.

I just recently made a video of me making a carving knife as well! It's a great joy to feel the wood pealing away under a tool that you made with your own hands

Very useful AND satisfying project! Good carving knives are expensive if you pay cash for them. Good on ya.

Branching out, not a bad side gig when the weather is bad.

You should forge a large Yarri Kanna next. It is one of my favorite tools. The Yarri Kanna leaves such a nice subtle texture that makes the difference between handmade and machine made. I would make it out of blue steel and wroght iron if you can.

I'm looking forward to when you rebuild your kitchen cabinets! Omg... I bet it'll have more exposed jointery than any kitchen I've seen and I've been in the high end cabinet business since I was 14!

Explaining...what gauge steel you are using, what grit sandpapers, how long you were tempering the blades, if it was water or alcohol you were dipping into, etc....could be helpful.
Just a thought written out to say, yeah, information would be helpful:l

Carving easily often depends on more than one aspect like a sharp tool. The moisture content of the wood makes a hell of a difference. Dry wood is hard to carve but green wood is so much easier.

Not sure if this is a one shot or if you plan on branching out to blacksmithing, but the ergonomics of your forge setup could use some work

Why such a long handle? I've never seen carving tools built like that. Do you have a specific reason?
