Log Cabin Quilt Block Strip-Pieced Tutorial

Hi there! In this video I show you how to strip-piece a log cabin quilt block using four fat quarters. This technique makes eight blocks at a time. It’s kind of a relaxing quilt project. I like to take my time, put on some music or a podcast and sew away!

These blocks use 2 1/2 inch strips, so it’s also a great project for a jelly roll.

This particular block “finishes” at 10 inches square. What I mean by that is when it’s sewn into a quilt, using a quarter-inch seam allowance, it measures 10 inches. The block as pieced is 10 and a half inches.

I’ve been sewing for over 40 years, but have only been quilting for about a year and a half. This method looks so easy, I’m going to try a log cabin soon…other quilts to work on first!! Regarding the batik, I worked at a fabric shoppe that sold mostly batiks and I noticed that some, not all have a more vibrant side, so I use that as my right side, and some are identical so you could use either side.
