Then I worked in the oil field, cutting steel, running a plate-roll machine to bend steel; I was a deck hand on a crew boat in the Gulf of Mexico; I worked fixing leaks in pipes, which were filled with steam, crude, acid, etc., in refineries. I would always look at people in air conditioned offices and wish I could be one of them. Later, I went to college and spent the next 22 years in IT, in air conditioned offices and cold server rooms. The whole time, I kept looking outside at the construction workers and wishing I was out there. Ya can't win.
