You need to start by adjusting the lower section for 10m. Then move on to the next section for 15m. Continue to the next section for 20m. Finally, adjust the whip for 40m.

I bought one this week, tuned it up and put 1000 watts in to it no problems! Made lots of contacts on 40, 20 and 10, it’s going in to my motor home for a awesome POTA setup! (It is easy to assemble and disassemble) thanks guys

I've been looking at one of these for months! I was planning on getting one but of course funds got in the way. Great to hear this works as well as it does!

I have this antenna and I can completely understand your frustration, the thing is a Bohemia. That being said, mine is now vertical, it’s a PITA to tune 40m phone part of the band.

Just got mine. It looks to me like at every yellow sticker is also a small sharpie mark. I'm going to put it together with every piece on this mark and then shorten the top, because i have a feeling thats the way. Science.

I have not bult\tunned this antenna. But I have worked on a Hustler 5BTV. It looks very similar. I would look at the DX engineering manual in setting up that antenna. It may give you some more understanding of the process. You need to tune each band from 10m down.

My two cents. The best way is to start with the tuning of 10 meters, next 15, next 20 and finally 40 meters as traps will cut off the lower frequencies. So adjusting the upper most whip of the antenna will only affect the 40 meter band. In between traps will tune 20 meters and just above first trap the 15 meter band. Base to first trap will affect 10 meters. There's a reason why working from 10 up to 40 is because of these traps. All in all a nice antenna for 4 band operation and with a tuner 30/17/12 would be possible at little loss. I would suggest putting rubber caps on the end of the radials to avoid accidents. Any thoughs on the results after the action took place? Cheers, Phil ON4VP

Nice job on the antenna and video. It's too bad it took so long to tinker with but it's good to know that it's workable across the 4 bands.

I see you had this on “about” a 3 to 6 foot mast. Did you add any ground rod or radials? I’m thinking of putting one on the roof with 5’ mast. Do you think I’d need any radials or ground wire to ground rod??? Thanks, great videos. 73’s KD0BRE Mark

reminds me of my Hustler 5btv. My experience is a bugger to tune also. 80 meters is so narrow.

Has this antenna been installed again and the bugs worked out of it?

Anyone know if this will tune up on 80-meters with a good auto tuner?

Did Xiegu not provide a tuning procedure?

Happily, the FCC has pretty much taken care of the HOA problems

Looks like a smaller version of the cushcraft R8, which I’ve had for 25 years

What happened to 10m when you shorted the whip?

Looks like a copy of the old Cushcraft R8 right down to the match box
