I recently acquired an Olympus XZ-1 which was a competitor compact with a similar lens range and a hot shoe! No mic input, really for quality still pics, not video. I am amazed how detailed the images are and the colours are great from its 10MP CCD sensor. I haven't tried a low light situation though, but maybe less MP is better from a small sensor.

Great review. Thank you. I own a G7x, and took it to Rome with me...8 years ago, and by looking at the photos from that trip you would think I used a professional DSLR. Phenomenal camera! Regarding changing settings via the lens, Leicas, many DSLRs, and all film SLRs allow for one to change the F-Stop on the lens. I grew up with film cameras, so I'm used to changing settings using the lens. I actually like this feature as it is more tactile and I like having more of my three major settings (F-Stop, Shutter Speed, and ISO) in the form of knobs. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing this video, i sold my canon G7x mk2 last year i really regret selling it ....i cant believe how much the power shot G7x cameras have gone so expensive even 2nd hand ....its very disappointing they never brought out the canon g7x mk4 ....thanks for sharing great video great work
