Always loved everything about the Carpenters

The title is “(They long to be) Close to You.” And no, nobody mocked their music. McCartney said she had the best female voice he’d ever heard. They liked their cover of Ticket to Ride.

Karen’s gorgeous contralto voice and her drumming and Richard’s musical genius and piano and his stunning arrangements…they were fabulous! ❤❤

Love her. She is an angel. The bands that criticized them were on drugs, screwed around and had no idea what it is like to have values and morals.

John Lennon once told Karen Carpenter outside a restaurant that he loved her voice !

No! Lennon did NOT "mock" them! He loved her voice and told her so, personally. He also complimented Richard on his music ability. Richard has told this story many times.

First of all, the cover photo of two people (with the guy shirtless) are not Carpenters. And although they grew up as kids in New Haven, CT, they weren't performing until they were well-ensconced in Downey, CA. What else is wrong about this profile of one of pop music's greatest duos? I'll never know, because I'm tuning this one out.

I’ve always loved her voice, I think a lot of her distress was caused by her fashion designer.

The Carpenters were truly iconic! These rare photos really capture the essence of their timeless music and their bond as siblings. It's amazing to see moments behind the scenes that we don't usually get to experience. This definitely adds to the legacy they've built.

I question that picture of them with "Richard's" shirt off. It doesn't appear to be them

When they first became famous, people used to think they were husband and wife, but Richard always set the record straight in the live concerts and interviews that they were brother and sister. Using a disrespectful AI image to get views will only get a "dislike" from me.

showing them with an incestuous photo is nothing but clickbait and will be reported I was fortunate enough to meet them several times and they were just brother and sister shame on you for using a picture like that to get views!

IMO therr are only two great singers of all time. Karen and Sinatra.
Her voice was amazing and spanned a large vocal range. That she died at a young age meant we lost years of future singing. Oh, what I would give to have her back again. Richard was a musical genius. It is odd that Ticket to Ride by the Beetles became such a hit when Richard did the arrangement and Karen sang.
The critics saying, the pair was boring are way off base.

A shot of ABBA when you mentioned rebellious and experimental bands? ABBA were not rebellious nor were they all that experimental.
