What Does it Mean? | Age of Wonders 4 Teaser Image | 2nd Season Pass? | New DLCs?

We got a teaser image from the devs of Age of Wonders 4 this morning, so I collected all reasonable interpretations of it that I have seen so far, so that we could go over it together quickly.

Sounds like we may get the bigger announcement tomorrow. I have a tierlist video for the previous aow4 dlcs already recorded and was originally planning on posting this week. Right now I think I will post it on Sunday, so keep an eye open for it :)

Instead of just another culture, I hope it is some kind of Rune system that mimics Planetfall's unit mod system.

Thanks very much for the breakdown, super excited for more AoW4 and I am day 1 for more DLC! Where you highlighted the silhouettes in the portal, I kinda got a webbed hand feel, I think I would lean towards a fish or shark type race maybe? Or something swampy? No matter what though I am just excited for more content!

Fey stuff seems to be the most obvious. Both with the big reveal of Duatha in the last expansion, and the conspicuous lack of Julia in the campaign. Given she's always been associated with the nature aspects of the Life Domain and the Archdruid class, I suspect she's involved somehow with the Nature Endalion which might be on Duatha given how closely the Fey are tied to nature and Elves.

I really wish it's something that ties the game together more and has more replayability. Eldritch sovereigns are cool, but after learning what they are like and doing a couple campaigns, I don't feel like they exist anymore. Might just be me, but the other origins are more open to interpretation than "evil purple monster". Dragons are more varied, primal culture is more varied etc.

Oh man Reddit is all kinds of wild. I guess the leak showed Samurai culture, Pegasi and giant leaders. Really interesting stuff.

Water would be nice -- a good start would be to undo the "improvements" in one of the earlier updates. Bring back different ships and improve them.

I just hope we get some actually unique stuff, I’m hoping for a dark and order combo culture, could be like a cult/religion based thing. Also more cosmetics are desperately needed imo

Maybe the eldritch numbers mean 5 new units, 4 new tomes in next dlc?

The portal image is straight out of the trailer. Just the silhouettes and the morsecode are new. And no, the outer runes on the portal dont seem to have any meaning. While some do look similar to the alphabet, most arent evene close. My guess would be either the artist made his own runes or the artwork was done before the alphabet was set in stone.
