I was stationed at Holy Loch submarine base in Scotland in the US Navy, where this film takes place. Years later, when I worked in Hollywood as an actor/ screenwriter I wrote a film script based on my time there. Also, I had the pleasure of getting to know Jim Brown in Hollywood. A terrific actor and a fine human being. A real force of nature.

Ernest Borgnine had a heck of a run in the late '60s with The Dirty Dozen, Ice Station Zebra, and The Wild Bunch.

With the recent passing of Jim Brown, every star in this movie are on departed list!

every time they showed the submarine doing it's thing, that majestic musical score would happen....real awesome- but after three times, you think the captain is turning on the stereo to that song every time he dives the sub.

Excellent, eventually. Minna is best voice on this subject and may I further recommend ‘Ice Station Zebra’ the 1968 spy thriller starring Rock Hudson and the Irish actor Patrick McGoohan.

Here after watching the new mission impossible movie. Calling it now, Dead Reckoning pt2 will feature some pastiche of Ice Station Zebra while the hunt is on for that sunken submarine.

From those of us who study aircraft, at 2:11 those are American F-4 Phantom II Fighter Bomber jets not Soviet MIG-21 Fighter jets as the rest of the movie seems to be showing.
My mistake, they appear a couple more times in the trailer at the end.

during his stay in vancouver at the old "bayshore inn" back in '72, an elderly, drug-addled billionaire by the name of howard hughes obsessively watched and rewatched a 16mm print of this flick, his supposed favorite movie, from his permanently prone 'n bedridden state in a darkened room, allegedly saturated in kleenex tissues so as to control the spread of his greatest fear ... germs...

While I do remember the name of this movie, for the life of me, I do not remember what it's about....except, it WAS dramatic.

There is an old movie from 1968 starting Rock Hudson; Ernest Borgnine ;and the late great Patrick McGoohan called, Ice Station Zebra which shows a submarine breaking and surfacing through the ice.

They never make movies like this anymore, today is all about who’s the most popular person to act and some one like the rock isn’t that great for the budget, greed and AI special effects ruins it
