Write With Me LIVE ✨✏️ June Writing Retreat – Session 1

Our fourth annual summer writing retreat is happening now! I'm so excited to embark on this adventure with you. Throughout the month of June, we are going to be focusing 100% on our writing projects and showing up for our creativity, 30 days in a row. This is your chance to join me for a super chill writing retreat – from home! Set a writing goal of your choice and see if you can accomplish it by June 30.

Join me Friday, June 7th at 1:00 PM EST for our first LIVE writing session. Bring your WIP and a cup of tea (or coffee) and let me be your writing buddy! We'll do 4 writing sprints total (25 minutes each) with 5-minute breaks in between to chat about our stories. I'm looking forward to writing with you!

joining this the day after and it's really helping me. Already at half a paragraph which is unheard of for me these days. Stay at home mom stuff keeps me pretty occupied and adhd keeps me pretty easily distracted.

I wonder if it's weird that I'm writing from a perspective that's so not me. LOL. I'm writing from a man's perspective (I'm a woman). He's an introvert, like I am, but he's married to an extrovert. My husband is an introvert like me. I knew I wanted my protagonist to be a man. Idk why, I just did. I knew the basic plot right away, too. But, I've noticed that while typing during this Live (I'm watching the replay), more ideas are just coming to mind and flowing out of me. Just writing really helps! LOL. I only started watching this yesterday, so I just finished my 2nd 25 min sprint, but I've been feeling good about it. My book idea popped in my head like 5 days ago, so this is very new to me, but I'm feeling good! I've never considered writing a book. Ever. I've never seen myself as a creative person. I'm 39 years old. So when an idea for a book just flashed through my head the other day, I was kind of weirded out, I must admit. A friend of mine who's written multiple books, including a memoir I read not too long ago, suggested Abbie, and I'm so glad she did. I've watched so many videos already! And I've taken lots of notes!

I was late so I couldn't comment in real time - but OMG!!! Abbie thank you for the way you're doing the non-fiction book. I'd #askAbbie -ed an age ago for a vlog series showing this process with a real book - but this is better! Thank you 💗 OOOH and the sequel could be doing the same wip - but in the editing to be ready to publish! 😄

I'm from New Zealand and I'm writing a novel based on a true story about a young girl who finds herself outed by her family as she's pregnant (back in the 80's), her mother sells her prized belongings and tries to force her to adopt her child out. Plenty of inner and outer conflict.

Yes, bc aren't lovers basically enemies in many ways? A lesson I learned by hard knocks. We're all Mr. and Mrs. Smith, intellectually, with the well-worded, well-timed questions and trying to listen and be in the right place at the right time (even we faithful partners, lol).
