Skip Counting by 3s Song
Показать описание
This Skip Counting by 3s Song gives children an introduction to skip counting and to their 3 times tables. Before learning multiplication tables skip counting is a valuable skill to develop as it helps kids come to grips with the concept of multiplication while also helping them start to memorize their three times table.
This counting video is suitable for children of all ages but is especially aimed at children in in preschool, kindergarten, first grade and second grade. The beat starts slowly as we count by 3s to 30 and it then gets faster and faster. This is done to increase children's number familiarity and help them develop an instant recall of the numbers involved in skip counting by three.
Given that children are often a little older when they learn to multiply by 3, it is important for parents to enthusiastically encourage and help them. Otherwise, if their motivation is beginning to drop and other distractions are getting stronger, this could be the point at which they start to fall behind.
The images presented change with each verse of the song:
- The first time we count by 3 to 30, each numeral comes on screen as it is said.
- Next, the written words for each number appear, ie three, six, nine twelve, fifteen, eighteen, twenty-one, twenty-four, twenty-seven, thirty. Some children struggle with numbers as words so the sooner they become familiar with the words and their spelling, the better -- especially given that many mathematical problems are presented as number sentences.
- Objects appear (apples) three by three.
- Dots appear, three by three.
- The numerals appear, but rather than each number disappearing, they remain on screen and each new number appears in sequence.
- For the final verse, the music reverts to its original slower speed and the numerals are displayed as in the first verse.
This song's purpose is to help children commit the three times table to memory. The numerical concepts of how multiplication works are extremely important -- but even so, an element of rote learning is virtually essential. We hope you find this simple tune a fun way to help your child excel in this stage of their mathematical development.
We also hope you and your child have fun trying to keep up with the music as it gets faster and faster!
