WKF kata HYAKUHACHIHO | Shotokan version of SUPARIMPEI

“HYAKUHACHIHO” or SUPARIMPEI

She performed on European Championship held in Porec - Croatia

🔹She performed a Shotokan version of Suparimpei kata that is actually called “Hyakuhachiho” but because of wkf regulations of pronunciation of katas it must be pronunce a Suparimpei. WKF recognizes a ryu-ha of katas so, you can do a things like that.

🔹You can hear a Luca Valdesi on video, he spoke of that kata that Sensei Kanazawa adopted a Shito Ryu kata into the Shotokan version

🔹Ofcourse is a beautiful kata both versions, its very dynamic, you have 45 angle movements, some 360 degrees spinning...so fun to learn and do, but yet so hard to understand the true meaning of kata its a jurney itself.

Oh, it is different from the Gojuryu SUPARIMPEI. And it is good too. The difference between them is just fine, not too different and not too same. We can say that it is another UNDERSTANDING OF SUPARIMPEI. That is perfect. And the announcer（sorry I google the word, I meant the man who say something besides） know much about karate than in my country.

Hyaku(100)hachi(8)ho(steps) 108, and suparinpei means 108.

There are 2 versions of Hyakuhachiho. This one I find less true to Superempi. Well done performance. This is NOT the Kanazawa version.

Is it true shotokan have a suparimpei kata? But why not Hyakuhachiho kata? Because the meaning of hyakuhachiho and suparimpei is 108?

That is Karate dinamic..suparumpei deferend styles gojuryu or shotokan version but..stil..beautiful kata

Well performed kata. A delight to watch. However, this is not Kanazawa sensei's version of Hayakuhachi ho. Slightly different.

This is very athletic the lady is very talented indeed but not the original version of hyakuhachiho and, i direct people to look up the Arai sensei version which more resembles suparinpei. The issue i have is that by changing the moves you also change the tracable application which can become lost or misinterpreted, this is why self defence training becomes a headache. I don't know why shotokan had to screw around with kata that were fine the way they were, just for competition.
if people dont like what i say well your free to your opinion, and i happen to be a shotokan practitioner, and let me just say i have many criticisms of the art, but i do hope people will look up the version of this kata performed by Arai for yourselves.

There is a written part in WKF rules where a player who uses edible cues will be deducted points but I don't think that rule is applied anymore.

Kata were created to be a reminder of techniques to use when needed. Not a soulless ballet to show to the public.

Is there a list of Shotokan katas anywhere? The lists I see never include this one, only have the first version of Meikyo, and often leave out Jiin and Wankan.
