In ancient Indian tuning there are two very close frequencies for each note except the root and 5th- would it be possible to record both sets - map one set to the keyboard and somehow press a button to toggle the alternate while playing? I was thinking one could assign the alternates to the black keys but the whole system actually includes the black keys and has variants for them too! However this would work for a diatonic type song- but not for free form improvising in ancient tuning- that requires some toggle switch-hehe.

This might've just sold me on a Nord Electro. Any other keyboards that can play a custom sample per key?

when I bought north (electro 5) after 30 years of various keyboards, from the polymoog, dx7, roland, yamaha etc., I thought I could create a new piano sound or acoustic guitar, but with great disappointment I found that the "sample" section it's really basic, it offers only 1 level of dynamics…. (they already did the first 80s samplers with at least 2 switch or switch levels)
practically useful only for making pads, organs, strings but without any dynamic expression. at most you can intervene on the cut off filter and volume...
something that today is available from every similar brand,
maybe even just adding internal memory (motif / moxf)
if only the software was made available to create a "plan" format file would be a big change
