Description: Ishmael is a 1992 philosophical novel by Daniel Quinn. The novel examines the hidden cultural biases driving modern civilization and explores themes of ethics, sustainability, and global catastrophe. Largely framed as a Socratic conversation between two characters, Ishmael aims to expose that several widely accepted assumptions of modern society, such as human supremacy, are actually cultural myths that produce catastrophic consequences for humankind and the environment.

two trees in eden, one of eternal life and one of knowledge between good and evil, Eve chose one over the other, and God saw this, and he was pleased; for those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for me shall find it.

My favourite part of the book: The explanation of the true meaning behind the Fall of Adam creation myth, from 3:57:16 to 4:12:46. Might make this part its own standalone video.

A close friend of mine and I used to take long walks maybe twice weekly. We would have extended philosophical discussions and talk about books that we'd read that had influenced our thinking. This is the book that occupied his thoughts on the last walk we took before a fatal overdose took him 4 years ago. hablini, your dictation of it helped me find the time to "read" it amidst a jam-packed schedule of being a physicist and a student. Thanks for putting in the time to read and record the whole thing.

I am honoured to be a part of the 8% I listened to you read when I was unable to read myself, this was one of those 'I can't put you down' books, so when I couldn't hold a book, you did for me. Thank you, my friend.

I randomly got the urge to read this book again just a few hours ago, and found your entire audio book uploaded at virtually the same instant. The Law must be on my side today.

2:34:54 Falling Off Of A Cliff - this is my favorite part of this book and the main reason that I still remember reading this book from so many years ago.

I read this book in 2008 and this was the first time I have ever been introduced to these ideas. Recently I wanted to read this book again to see how I would interpret the text 14 years later. I came across this recording and decided to give it a go. I enjoyed the reading immensely. My understanding of this text 14 years later was much deeper, and I found it to be inline with the desires I have for my life today. Thank you. 🙏

Glad to have found this. I read Daniel quinns trilogy of books relating to ishmael about 15yrs ago and they sit in my mind almost constantly. I've struggled to find time to revisit them so I'm really pleased you've put in the work to narrate it! Thank you

I read it 20 years ago. I remember taking it to my doctors appointment totally enthralled with it and telling my Jewish doctor it was the new Bible! He laughed and said "Maybe!",

Never heard of this book until yesterday. I’m 21 years old and grew up in Texas. So mad that this wasn’t taught in any of the schools i went to (i went to 12 schools in total throughout texas). This would’ve changed my life back then. Maybe I wasn’t meant to find it until now, when I truly needed it

Thank you for your reading of this. I read a copy of this years ago and wanted to do a revisiting of it as my thoughts have again come to ways to save the world. I am also looking for people on the same mission. Looking forward to seeing your other content.
