The most glaring thing about Cars 2 I felt was the upgrade in violence compared to the first one. Not only did they start using guns, but characters actually died this time.

In hindsight, the decision to make cars 2 a violent spy thriller with Mater as the main character is hilarious, especially how cars 3 almost completely ignores it and goes back to Lightning McQueen's racing career.

Just a reminder that Pixar has put guns in their movies before, for example:

- In Ratatouille, a Random woman attempts to shoot her lover before her lover countered the gun to shoot in a different direction and of course making love with said lover.

- In Up, moments before Muntz’s death, Muntz used a rifle to aim and shoot at Russell, Kevin, and Dug.

- In the Incredibles 1, the movie literally starts with a car shootout.

Imagine looking in your car manual and seeing "Ammunition storage here. Replace every 6 months.".

1:50 I love that they used British military equipment instead of being lazy and just have some generic US equipment.

This is quite gritty for Pixar's second action packed film, but the scenes with them are fascinating to the point, where the cars using guns indicates that how it isn't strict for children (that, and the concept art for Cars on the Road shows Mater possibly using a flame gun)

plus, the final act with Tony Trihull and his magnet has Finn losing his guns (although, he could have more attached) and Professor Z's monocle magnetized.

Unpopular opinion, Cars 2 is actually a really good film in general. It’s just not a good Pixar film

what makes it cooler, these guns are somewhat "realistic", you can see mcmissile chambering a round, the guns ejecting shells, even the rocket launcher is recoiless

0:01 AK74/M16 thing
0:09 MRLS
0:14 GD GAU-19A without barrel shroud
0:18 Pocket pistol, reminds me of Colt Officer ACP
0:26 FGM-148 Javelin in my opinion
0:36 Unseeabel machine gun, most likely a Vulcan Cannon
0:50 is the only good shot of it but def a Maxim
0:54 Big Boi arsenal of Gatling guns and launchers
0:56 both M1919, likely for a lemon
0:57 seems like a Remington 870
0:59 good ol' M134 Minigun
1:27 judging by the front, they might be GLocks or Walther PPQs
1:41 1:45 Maxims
1:46 assorted launchers and what appears to be a Browning Hi-Power similar to Mcfinn's gun
1:50-1:53 Beretta 92fs judging by slides
1:55 L85a1s
Fun fact:the American's license plate says M1911A1, a Famous American handgun
Edit:thank you guys for helping with the aircraft gun

Hey guys just a reminder not everything made for kids is supposed to be on the same level as Sesame Street; it isn't shocking that there's guns in a kids movie, this isn't a new or a rare concept and is present in other Disney / Pixar films such as The Incredibles, UP, and Ratatouille. MPAA ratings don't just move up to PG because of the presence of weapons, action, or violence.
