Please note : You should know that this assembly is an unofficial one, I made it with the documents that I could find on the web. I did it just for the fun of making these two concerts as complete as possible...

The Beatles’ brief 1966 tour of West Germany, Japan and the Philippines began on this day, with two concerts at the Circus-Krone-Bau in Munich, Germany.

The shows took place at 5.15pm and 9pm. The second show was filmed by German television network Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF), and followed a brief afternoon rehearsal set for the cameras. The footage was shown as Die Beatles on channel two on Tuesday 5 July, from 8-8.45pm.

Also appearing on the bill were Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers, The Rattles, and Peter and Gordon. The German leg of the tour was known as the Bravo Blitztournee, and was sponsored by the entertainment magazine Bravo.

The Beatles’ set throughout the tour consisted of 11 songs: ‘Rock And Roll Music’, ‘She’s A Woman’, ‘If I Needed Someone’, ‘Day Tripper’, ‘Baby’s In Black’, ‘I Feel Fine’, ‘Yesterday’, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’, ‘Nowhere Man’, ‘Paperback Writer’, and ‘I’m Down’.

You really had to live thru Beatlemania to comprehend what a huge impact these 4 guys from Liverpool had on the entire world. We'll never see anything like it again.

I’m just shy of 73 now, but every time I hear them I’m 18 once again. I feel so lucky to have come of age during those magical years of amazing musicians and singular music. Today’s music, while some of it is really quite extraordinary, simply doesn’t capture an age or a life like this music did, and still does.

The Beatles NEVER repeated themselves. Every album was an advance on the previous one. True musical geniuses, each one of them

No one can touch the Beatles. Greatest group ever.

The Circus Krone concert stands alone in 1966, an oddity. Instead of the usual huge venues, the Beatles are in a rather intimate setting, a mere few feet away from the fans. The improved Vox amplifiers actually had enough power to be heard this time! Additionally, unlike the 1966 American tour, the Beatles all seem joyous about playing, especially John Lennon. They put on a great show with a lot of enthusiasm, as if it were 1964. It might feel like 1964 since most of the songs are from that tour (Rubber Soul was hard to replicate on stage, and Revolver had just been recorded but not released yet). The gems here are hearing more recent songs, especially John's "Nowhere Man" and "Day Tripper" (too bad it was just a snippet for DT). George's If I Needed Someone is another treat to see performed live. Paul's Yesterday is not done solo acoustically (per earlier years) but with the band backing up his epic song. Times were a changing and the Beatles would stop touring in just a few months, but for one moment, the band was sort of "home", playing before a German audience in a small setting and having a great like the Hamburg days. Kudos to the few people (and German TV Network) that had movie cameras and sound equipment to record this priceless event way back in 1966!

So glad that all of this precious old footage is being preserved on youtube. Youtube is kinda like the Library of Congress.

Love when Paul says ' I've forgotten the words to that"...referring to ' I'm down ' . And John playfully tries to remind him..they looked so happy together..even when Paul makes a mistake during the song..Ringo has to laugh...very nice to see ..

Speechless. Incredible. To see a non-acoustic Yesterday was amazing. And Nowhere man live…how daring! And done with perfect harmony. No one compares to these boys!

I can not put into words how exciting it was in the 60s listening to the Beatles.

It doesn't matter how many times you watch The Beatles, after all these years, they are still mesmerising & exciting.
Love them all but John is & always was my favourite, magnetic.

The Beatles actually rehearsed for this show. It was their first time back in Germany since the old days. They were nervous and wanted to play well. Guess what they did. Great stuff

The harmonies in Nowhere Man are brilliant, goes to show they didn't need studio tricks to pull it off. The equipment wasn't as great as it is nowadays and there was so much noise from the screaming that they could hardly hear themselves play and they still put on a great show. I say legends!

how wonderful to see this! I can’t believe it’s 56 years that I was at this concert — I only have a couple of blurry photos that I took with this little cheap „Instamatic“ camera. I had no clue this footage existed! Thanks!

I was 16 years old when this concert was. The Beatles were not just a band, they were a part of us.

Baby's In Black is such a magical moment. Great song, but even better live.

I was like born in 93 but when I look at this videos I get into the feeling like been in that Beatle era, the born of everything we know and metric, even so I'm not in that era, they are still with us in this records, a pleasure to enjoy them.
