Though only 8 months old, this speech - while undoubtedly heartfelt and Extremely well stated - has certainly aged. Does Trump - the consummate New Yorker, I agree - truth be told, STILL hold either NY City or NY State in the same stratospheric regard ?
As a middle-aged Irish Catholic guy - who grew up in inner city Detroit - I highly doubt it.
No, I believe that Trump, in his heart & soul, KNOWS that his native city & state - like Detroit is to me - is Gone With The Wind.
I’d love to say that our Nation can & will become “United” once again; but that would be a lie.
Unfortunately, Blue Cities - and almost EVERY big city in America is Blue, obviously - will Never vote out the Democratic Party, in my opinion.
Just as equally, the overwhelming Red County which I reside in - in Rural Central Michigan - will Never vote for the Democratic Party; whom we disagree with, on EVERY Major cultural issue (and vise verse, of course.)
So, that is why - like California & NY State - Michigan Conservatives are fleeing to Southern States.
While it is fine for old Conservatives - such as myself - to “stay and fight” for such States, if they so desire, I can assure you that, overwhelmingly, we are Strongly encouraging our children to move to a Red State (my son is a recent college grad; a large # of his graduating class have already moved to TN, Florida, N Carolina, and Georgia.)
My life and career are, mainly, behind me. My son, however, needs to live in a State/City in which
the cultural values that drove my Great Grand Father to (legally) immigrate to the USA - especially it’s Constitution - is still Honored.
Blue States, which offer “Sanctuary” Cities/Counties/States, No Cash Bail, Defund The Police, CRT, the Canonization of Marxist entities such as BLM & Antifa, Insanely High Taxes, Terribly Services, legalized dope stores - are cultural Dead Zones for Conservatives.
We simply have no long term future here.
Therefore, like my Fore-Fathers, it is time for me and mine to move on ( in our case, to Red America; instead of a new continent.)
Sad; but true.
