I love how the takeoff is accompanied by the music from when the raft launched in Season 1. That was one of my favorite scenes.

These people survived this moment in their lives, yes. But they die eventually as they are humans who don't live forever. We don't know how or at what age they die - but they do. And in the "alternate universe" aka "purgatory" aka "a place they made together" which is a time after everyone died, they eventually remember their lives and make amends etc, and then are ready to move into the after life.

I think Lost is one of the most beautiful shows ever made. I can’t describe how it feels for Jack lying there on the forest seeing the plane fly off while Vincent is there to comfort him in his dying moments.

Near the end, I found that the Ajira crew, both in terms of characters and story, were the only ones I still cared (well, maybe Hurley and Ben too but they were done by the time the plane took off). It was great to watch them fly off :)
