Just a short video demonstrating the different sound qualities using Soundblaster or MT-32 emulation with DOSBox ECE. This is the intro sequence of the DOS game "Dune 2 - Der Kampf um Arrakis" ("Dune II - The Building of a Dynasty") made by Westwood in 1992.

I like the MT32 soundtrack a lot more. Back in the days I didnt know a lot about MidiCards. I just used soundblaster like everybody else I knew, so this is interesting. Just an idea: The video maybe would be better if the soundtrack is switched - lets say f.e. each 5 seconds. So you dont have to jump back and forth in the timeline to compare.

Wow, in this case I'm not that impressed; I may actually prefer the sound blaster music; which is rare. Roland MT-32 music really lacks the umpf of the Sound Blaster music; it's like most of the sounds have too low a volume.

Also, the lack of the sound effects severely hamper the game; if you had this game in English; the intro text was spoken with the Sound Blaster. Really goes to show why people with really a lot of money to burn, usually got both a Sound Blaster and a Roland MT-32.
