I'm a Vermonter, poor but happy! Nowhere near 100K, happy and grateful for what I have and especially grateful to live in this beautiful state, surrounded by trees and wildlife, and breathing clean air.🍁🧡🍁

It's not as good as it sounds, I promise they make up for it in property taxes 💀

I live in Vermont. VT has a 7.6% state income tax after $99, 200 up $206, 950 gross at $100, 000 per year state income tax paid would be $5276.8. Fed income rate is "$14, 751 plus 24% of the amount over $86, 375"

Salary of 100k in NY equals cannot afford a mid-sized home built in 1950's in most areas.

I've lived in VT all my life. Traveled around the world. Visited many different state and countries. I would never want to live anywhere else.

Cost of living, property tax, and house prices are well beyond reasonable. Place is fine if you litetally do nothing. Trying to actually do something? Well prepare for some ass chafing regulation and busybody Karen's patrolling your property.

I’ve lived in Vermont my whole life, it’s been nice but now it sucks because so many flatlanders moving here. I work on houses for a living and so many people bought houses for WAY more then they are worth, without even looking at them. Now they want them fixed and remodeled.

It’s great business wise but material costs and property costs are through the roof. Land you can’t access from a road on the side of a mountain have sold for $100, 000.

The house I’m working on currently was bought by a couple for a little over $500, 000. The house is a ranch with basement, hasn’t been updated since it was built. Would not even pay $200, 000 for it. Wiring is ungrounded and cloth coated, plumbing is cast iron, insulation in exterior walls is about 1-1/2 inch thick (about R5 rating), all walls and ceiling are plaster. Should be gutted on inside. Not worth $500, 000

I live in VT bought my home in early 2020 when rates were at there lowest. I paid 137k and paid 10k at closing including down payment, lawyers, title, etc... My mortgage is $643 and after taxes and insurance it's $1122 insane!! My brother bought a 200k house in Ohio in 2002 and $0 at closing and $700 after tax and insurance...

We own less than an acre in Vermont, and we owe 6k in property taxes. Oi! 😢

Ignoring 401k, HSA, and FSA contributions.

I can’t imagine being discontent with taking home $72000 per year. If you are not happy with that, then don’t live in Vermont or any state with similar taxes. But that aside, if you’re single or don’t have many financial responsibilities, $72k is more than enough to live comfortably.

Just curious how federal income tax is different in every one of your $100k salary tax videos?
Isn't federal tax the same for every tax bracket (excluding marriage etc)?
So $100k federal taxes should be the same amount in every state....

I live in VT. Love it here but it lacks industry so taxes are higher.

I live in Vermont. It's expensive, but better than living in Indiana.

I moved to VT from RI. The tax cut was incredible. They think taxes are high here but it’s all about what you know. My insurance is cheaper here too and no more town vehicle registration tax.

state income tax in VT is 25% of federal tax, so you're off by $1, 500+/-
