New York Rangers goalie Alexandar Georgiev throws his stick at Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin during a shootout, but after review, the goal would end up counting

I cannot believe the four officials that got together and decided it was no goal Wow glad they got the call from Toronto to change it to a goal. That is the correct call.

Not gonna lie that was just one of the funniest things I've seen from the Rangers. Good call to give it to Ovi though.

I cannot believe that the four referees convened after the Ovi incident
and collectively decided that there was no-goal. What were they
watching? It took a call from the league to overrule the initial
decision.

25.4 Infractions – During the Course of a Penalty Shot - A goal will be awarded when a goalkeeper attempts to stop a penalty shot by throwing his stick or any other object at the player taking the shot or by dislodging the goal (either deliberately or accidentally) (see Rule 63.6).

Don't quite get this one really. Even if the goalie actually did accidentally lose control of his stick and it happened to look like he threw his stick at the puck, it would still be ruled the same way...or at least should. The refs made themselves look like tools in this one.

I can believe that 4 refs collectively decided there was no goal. I base that on other calls I’ve seen this year that were terribly wrong.

This hasn't been the best year for NHL officiating, but they're still way ahead of the other major sports.

It slipped from his grip. Unfortunately the rules state the shooter gets an awarded goal, regardless of intention. He swept across to stop the sneaky backhand, but he lost the stick in the process.

It was an accident, because the goalie had lost his grip on the stick when he went for the poke check.
