As you’ve said many times Jonathan, “ if you’re not married, you can just walk”.

A single letter or legal filing could take an hour of attorney time even if it were mostly boiler plate. My lawyer was a hundred bucks an hour 40 years ago. My ex was probably in an affair fog and we moved on quickly and had no big assets but it was still probably a couple of months of my income for legal costs. My lawyer described a situation he was in where the couple was fighting over a $300 TV and it went on all afternoon with both lawyers present. Total legal fees for both lawyers were many times the cost of a new TV, and they worked low wage jobs. Emotions and obstinance can be costly. I have had other LTRs but never re-married.

Thank You Senor it's NEVER a woman's fault for not understanding. As all women are incapable of any analytic concept development, ESPECIALLY when the process does not benefit their (a woman's) agenda.

I’m a criminal defense atty. and family attorney. Producing discovery and mandatory reporting is a good way to create motions to compel and further “billing” for attorneys. I find most of the cases, it’s not the clients fault.😂

Define the term "understand"? Did i hear that right? How do we not have the courts calling out this stupidity? Define the term "define" then

Even if council spells it out for her, and takes their time doing so, that doesn't mean she was listening or understands. What many of us understand is that women do not express thoughts and rationalize reality with their brains, they do with their hearts, so ir she wasn't feeling all of the words being presented to her, she's not going to remember them. Now her feelings have shifted towards disgust, shock, betrayal, and fury (maybe some others) likely meaning she doesn't understand

Sadly, if the rolls were switched, the judge would consider the argument of not understanding the prenuptial; since she is a wohman, different rules apply in the courts.

I live in Florida and am considering having my significant other live with me - fortunately, the State of Florida does not recognize common law marriage.

I like the new intro Jonathan. In Australia it's common law after a short period of cohabitation.

Jonathan, in PA, is it true that all it takes to have common law marriage apply is that others think you're married? How much of a timeframe is THAT?

In your experience, are the women the ones to drag out the divorce process or are men equally culpable?

Could this be avoided by marrying someone with similar income or assets to you?
