Nice refresher. I studied Electrical thingies in college about 150 years ago, then did the C&G for part P testing about 10 years ago. But I can't remeber what I ate for tea yesterday

I think you should also remove the CPC from the earth bar for the circuit you are testing as you will not detect a break in the CPC if that circuit also has parallel paths to the point you are testing at

Test method 1 is not a correct way to do an R1 + R2 you need to disconnect the circuit cpc and connect it to the live and then do your test. The way you have shown you are testing parallel paths and getting incorrect readings. You should know better

Can you guess what will happen with washing machine that is connected to water that is used for ground, and there's a constant current leak that doesn't trigger breaker?
The washing machine water sensor will eventually go up in flames!
It might be not your circuit leaking, and it might be not your washing machine, but in apartment building that will eventually kill someone one way or the other
