I find it interesting that these institutions are in predominantly ‘red’ states, where ‘traditional’ ideologies such as ‘man works wife stays home’ are prevalent. I say this bc I know many girls and boys use frats and sororities as a way to spouse shop.

It's another way for classist people to gate keep networks and relationships since more and more "poors" are getting into college and it's not as exclusive as before, which makes them uncomfy so they have to find more and more ways to filter out the "undesirables" and keep their insular homogenous "culture".

"Diversity" in those sororities means accepting a couple token brunettes or girls who might want a career or who have voted for a Democrat.

Texas becoming diverse being the reason it's not big anymore made me holler

Could these be the girls that were in the popular clique in high school? They want to continue to be in the "cool club" when they move on to college, and for it to be visible, so they pursue membership in a sorority.

Most houses are no longer taking legacies like they use to do.

UofL in Louisville Kentucky, same thing. The Indiana school you were referring to has to be IU.

Imagine going to college just to dance and look the same, no future career😂😂

You forgot about university of Arkansas and LSU and Mississippi state. Auburn doesn’t have sorority houses, it’s more like college dorms

This is why Northern sororities will always be better in my mind, so much more open minded

When your life peak occurs in your early 20s and your main priority is landing a good man rather than building a strong career or resume, you choose and take this path in life. It’s not until 20 years later when their looks fade and the Chad they marry decide enough is enough, files for divorce and upgrades to a younger prettier version of their ex. That’s when the harsh reality kicks in. It won’t happen to all of them but it will happen to enough of them.

It isn't odd that Indiana has a big sorority influence. Literally the majority of sorority headquarters are based in Indiana due to taxes being lower there for them. I find it hilarious when people talk about sororities and know absolutely NOTHING about them. I am a housemom at a sorority and these girls pursue HARD careers. I have girls making 4.0s that are studying biochemistry, engineering, premed.... Many of the girls joining sororities nowadays have parents who were never in sororities as well by the way.

This is just sour grapes. These are the girls every guy wants and every girl wants to be; just like how every dude wants to be Chad. These girls are talented, drop-dead gorgeous, and live in a beautiful home in a beautiful climate. What’s not to like.

I want to go to ole Miss and be in a sorority but now that I've learned more about it I don't know if I'll be in a sorority

I would add Southern Methodist University I get that it’s private and small, but apparently Greek life is “ larger than life” over there

This woman has no idea what she’s talking about. Some of the most established best hardworking women I know were in sorority’s. They have to have a good gpa to get into the sorority, that’s a very big part of it so this isn’t true at all. These women go on to be successful hardworking women. How about we not judge something we don’t know enough about?
