In this video I review ten different smart buttons and remotes that work with #HomeAssistant using Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA). I tested each #smartbutton and compare them, so you can decide which one is right for your #smarthome. Thanks for watching! I hope this review helps you out when buying these devices!

Hi all, thanks for watching! What do you think? Are there some smart buttons that I missed?

The "4-gang" button now seems to be natively supported by ZHA! So now it is for sure my favourite multi button device.

It’s great to see a device comparison video that’s focused on Home Assistant!

Dude, all these IKEA Zigbee devices have that 4-clicks thing to link. Mine were all the same, and I wasted 3 hours trying to figure it out!

Glad you put that in your video!

Dude, this is the best video out there on this stuff, I can't believe it's not more popular!

I think I'm going with the Ikea controller to pair with HA. Gonna order one to try. Thanks!

The holding of the pairing button on the IKEA remote is the direct bind pairing that you can use to bind the remote directly to an IKEA bulb without any form of controller/hub.
Normal pairing/reset for the remote is to rapidly press 4-5 times.
The right and left buttons on the IKEA remote normally switches the color of the bulbs.

Pressing the ikea button on the back 4 times unpairs it from any previously paired hubs. Definitely helped me to make a decision, thank you!

The "tuya" 4gang remote has two modes:
dimmer mode
switch mode (to have the 12 actions mentioned by you in video)
To switch between modes hold buttons 2+4 (about 6 seconds) until light 3 flashes once.

You made me laugh at 13:03, you little... :)
Another great video, so much help for building our smart home from scratch. IKEA looks like a good choice.

I finally switched from the now depreciated Z-Wave integration to Z-Wave JS integration after watching this video. Thankyou for your work on the Blueprint for the Fibaro The Button. When I originally set it up it was a nightmare. I have put off switching as a result of that nightmare, but it was much easier than I thought!

This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Been googling smart buttons and haven't really found any options... was going to give up. Just ordered the ikea and the aqara ones! Can't wait to try them out 😍

Great video. I have 2 zigbee buttons (one 4 buttons, one 2 buttons) and i didn’t have any problem with pairing them with zigbee2mqtt, but i have only single and double actions on each button. But still i like them.

Great video. I would recommend you try aqara round button. Whole upper surface is button so you just smash it. Love those for individual room lights.

Just the type of review I needed...."Everything works with Home Assistant"
Picking up 4 of the Aqara buttons, nice and cheap, especially with Prime Day. Just switched from the Docker container to the HAOS VM and looking to make a few dumb devices a bit smarter.

Two solutions:
First is a dumb light I have mounted on my dad and I's headboards. Simple clip on lights that work well, but lose all settings when you disconnect power. Replacing them with Govee LED Strips (M1) and a couple of these Aqara buttons. My dad has dementia, and is sometimes confused even by the relatively simple remote for the light. It has power on/off, light color, and two brightness level buttons. For him, just planning to make it on and off with preset settings. Both of these strips will serve as the most used room light, since, when we moved into this house, the main room light switch got put behind the door when we swapped out sliding doors for hinged doors. Have other plans for smart things involving that lighting, but this is a start.

Second is a set of dumb buttons that have a hub that plugs into the wall. The hub is in my office, the two buttons are in the Living Room and my Dad's Bedroom. He currently uses them to get my attention and have been the best and easiest for him. Putting one of the buttons in the same spots, as well as the bathroom. It's a simple "I need assistance in some way". It's not really an emergency button, though it can be used like that, but primarily to get my attention for every day things. I've tried many things for him to use in this way, and these dumb buttons are the only thing he has learned how to use consistently.

Thanks for the great video. I just got the Smartthings Button (now marketed at the Aeotec Samjin Button). I have to say I am disappointed at the build quality / design, because the button rattles at the slightest touch and it feels cheaply made. For almost $30, I expected better build quality. I wonder if other people have the same issue?

I too love the look and feel and features of the Ikea button and I have many of them.

But it always takes at least 3 (sometimes up to 7) clicks to wake them up when it has been idle for a while.

Has anyone else experienced this and know a fix?

Nearly all of the issues you mentioned can be solved by switching to zigbee2mqtt and no blueprint needed.

Can you see if there is any that has a microphone and speaker on the button that works locally?
It would be nice as a emergency button and even like a walky-talky type of thing.

Great Video, Thanks for your detailed review!

It only left one question open for me, but I know that testing this is time consuming and not trivial: Which button has the longest battery life and is there an option, which can be powered by rechargeable batteries?

I got some Ikea zigbee devices, they do not connect. Must be Zigbee 1.2, not 3.0. wish it would work. I have several items from Ikea and I like how they feel and they use AAA batteries.
